England: the road to the Final in 20

27

Background
The UEFA Nations League was unanimously adopted at the XXXVIII Ordinary UEFA Congress in Astana on 27 March 2014.

The format for the fifth UEFA Nations League will again feature promotion and relegation. The 54 European national teams—Russia are still suspended from all UEFA activity—have been divided into four leagues in accordance with UEFA's first Nations League project.

After participating in League B for first time, England returned to participate in League A and therefore, will hope to feature in the Finals in June 2027.

The UEFA Nations League will continue as per the previous campaign, in that there will be a knockout round to be played in March 2027, thereby creating continuity between the league phase ending in November and the finals played in June. The League A group winners and runners-up will participate in home-and-away quarter-finals, with the winners of these ties qualifying for the final tournament. The remaining group winners are automatically promoted. The third-ranked teams of League A and the runners-up of League B, as well as the third-ranked teams of League B and the runners-up of League C, will play a home-and-away promotion/relegation play-off. There will also be play-offs between the two best-ranked fourth-placed teams from League C and the two runners-up from League D.

The draw took place on Thursday, 12 February 2026 in Belgium at the Palais 3 at Brussels Expo, in the shadow of King Baudoin Stadium. League A was drawn by .
