Diary
Friday, 6
November 1998 - France have announced replacement matches after
withdrawing from the January Confederations Cup tournament in Mexico.
Instead of that eight team exhibition, Roger Lemerre's World Champions will play
two conventional friendlies at the start of 1999. France host Morocco on
January 20th at the Velodrome in Marseilles while February brings a trip to
London to play England at Wembley on the 10th.
Thursday, 4 February 1999 - French coach
Roger Lemerre has adjusted his front line for the trip to Wembley next week to
face England. Lilian Laslandes is recalled and is the current favourite
to partner Arsenal striker Nicolas Anelka who has scored at Wembley on both
previous occasions that he played at the venue with the English champions.
Olympique Marseilles goalkeeper Stephane Porato earns his first mention in the
senior squad that contains five players who work in London with Premiership
sides Chelsea and Arsenal.
