      Recent F.A. yearbooks credit Tony Adams with captaining England that night, and

  pick up that mistake.  It is an assertion belied by photographic evidence as well as contemporary match reports, and it is one Adams certainly does not
  make, as shown by the list in his fine autobiography, Addicted (1998),
