parents, George and Phoebe Ann (née Steward). His Welsh father was a railway labourer. |

Playing Career |
Club(s) |
Started his football career in the Silverwood Colliery FC team. He
signed on at Silverwood to work on Haulage in February 1921. Beginning
with Silverwood Colliery, Ball went on to play for Sheffield United
FC in 1919,
Bristol Rovers FC in May 1921, Wath Athletic FC in 1922, Bury FC in May
1923 for £350 fee. He scored 92 league
goals, before a move to West Ham United FC in May 1929, and Coventry City
FC in May 1930.
In the 1930-31 season,
he
made fifteen appearances as a forward for Coventry City in which he scored
nine
goals. In September 1931, he was found at Stourbridge FC, before
moving onto Hinckley United FC,
Atherstone Town FC and Coventry Gas FC. He totalled 269 league
appearances, scoring 108 goals. |
