Began as a schoolboy with Coventry City FC, but
they did not offer Bardsley a contract. He instead, signed apprentice
forms with Blackpool FC, Becoming a professional on 5 November 1982. After
45 league appearances, he signed for Watford FC for a £150,000 fee
on 23 November 1983. Bardsley then made another hundred league
appearances, with three goals, after which he signed for Oxford United FC
for a £265,000 fee on 18 September 1987. Another 74 league
appearances and seven goals followed before Bardsley signed for Trevor
Francis' Queen's Park Rangers FC on 15 September 1989 for £500,000.
From February 1996 until February 1997, he became the club's assistant
first team coach. After 253 league appearances, and four goals, he
returned to Blackpool FC in July 1998, making 64 league
appearances, and then spent the 2001-02 season with Northwich
Victoria FC, playing only twice. He retired shortly
afterwards. |

Became a columnist 'Dressing
Room Talk' with the Blackpool Gazette after he left the club in
2001, and he wrote the column until June 2004, during which time, he
took his UK Coaching Badge in 2002, and spent a year developing the
David Bardsley Professional Coaching Programs. In
2004, Bardsley became the Academy Director of Ajax for a year
in Florida, after which he became a coach and the director of the
Queen's Park Rangers FC Academy also in Florida.
