Club Career

Club(s) Represented Leicestershire at schoolboy level, during which time he had trials with both local club, Leicester City FC and Arsenal FC. He played his early football with Midland Athletic FC of the Leicestershire League. From there, he joined Coventry City FC as an apprentice, turning professional in June 1967. After 146 league appearances and six goals, Blockley did join Arsenal for £200,000 on 5 October 1972,  scoring once in 52 league appearances. And then back to his hometown club, Leicester City FC in January 1975. They paid £100,000 for him and he made 76 league appearances, scoring twice. He spent some of his time on loan to Derby County FC in January 1978, without any league appearances. City then sold him to Notts County FC in June 1978, until spring 1980, making 59 league appearances, scoring five goals. He left for non-league football, when he joined Enderby Town FC and then Gloucester City FC in the 1981-82 season.
