Started his career with Coley Boys Club. Signed amateur forms with Reading
FC in February 1949, turning professional in April 1949.
After 46 league appearances and five goals,
Brooks joined Tottenham Hotspur FC in February 1953 for a transfer fee and
two players. He made 166 league appearances and
scored 46 goals. Chelsea FC signed Brooks in December 1959 in a
player exchange and he went on to make 46
appearances and six goals. Brentford FC signed Brooks for £5000
in September 1961 and he completed another 83
league appearances and scored another 36 goals. Crystal Palace FC
signed him in January 1964, then after only
seven league appearances, Stevenage Borough FC signed him in
October 1964. Turned out for the Cleveland Stokers in the NASL in 1968. Was playing for
and assisting Knebworth FC in the Hertfordshire League until well into his
fifties. |
