Began his
football career playing for Kent Schools and then North Kent Schools. He
began his career with the Corinthians club and then with Gravesend & Northfleet FC, West Ham United
FC bought him for a transfer fee of £30,000 on 10 February 1998. But
without any league appearances, he
signed on a free transfer with Peterborough United FC on 6 July 2001,
where he made 66 league appearances, scoring
eleven goals. It was enough to get him noticed by Wigan
Athletic AFC, where he signed for £275,000 on 31 January 2003. He
made 145 league appearances, scoring ten times. On 28 April 2006, it was announced that Bullard
would sign for Fulham FC at the end of the season for £2.5 million. After
39 Premier League appearances and six goals, Bullard signed for Hull City AFC on 23 January 2009 for
a record fee paid £5 million.
Bullard joined Ipswich Town FC on loan from 27 January 2011,
scoring five in sixteen league appearances. After being
released from his Hull contract on 18 August 2011,
making only 23 Premier League appearances, scoring
seven, Bullard joined Ipswich permanently on 25
August 2011. He made a further 21 league
appearances, scoring once. He joined MK Dons FC on 28 August 2012,
but made just two league appearances. He retired from playing on 1
October 2012 due to his persistent knee injury. |

Although
English by birth, Bullard has a German grandmother and is therefore
eligible for the German national team. In the run-up to the 2006
World Cup, it was reported that Bullard was contemplating an international
call-up from the Nationalmannschaft, having made his interest known
to the national coach Jürgen Klinsmann. |
