Playing Career


Club(s)
After playing for Cleator Moor Celtic FC, and as a Leeds United AFC trainee, Carson signed professional  forms on 5 September 2002.  After only two league starts, Carson signed for Liverpool FC on 21 January 2005 for £750,000, rising to £1 million.  Loaned to Sheffield Wednesday FC for part of the 2005-06 season and signed for a season-long loan at Charlton Athletic FC on 14 August 2006. Again, another season-long loan ensued as Carson joined Aston Villa FC on 10 August 2007. Carson then moved away from Anfield to join West Bromwich Albion FC on 18 July 2008 for a £3¼ million fee. Then, on 1 July 2011, he was signed by Turkish club Bursaspor KD for an undisclosed fee and made 63 Turkish league appearances, before he returned to England to sign for Wigan Athletic FC on 4 July 2013 for £700,000. Carson moved on once more, on 12 June 2015, when he was signed by Derby County FC. Then, on 8 August 2019, he moved to Manchester City FC for a season-long loan, on 19 August 2020, the loan was extended for another season. On 20 July 2021, Carson signed with City on a recurring contract.
