According to the 1911 census,
John F., now has another two younger sibling and all six live with their
parents at 5 Elm Street in Jarrow-on-Tyne. His father is a naval architect. John
himself is a timekeeper along with his elder sister, Elizabeth. Passenger List's
revealed that John Crawford was on the RMS Asturias, leaving Southampton for
Buenos Aires. Stated as a foootballer and travelling second class with the
rest of Chelsea FC squad. |
According to the 1939 register, John F., a
metropolitan police reserve, is married to Henrietta, with one daughter,
Joan, and they live at 69 Cromwell Avenue in the New Malden area of West
Barnes in London. |

Began his playing career
with Palmers' Works FC of Jarrow. He spent time with the Royal Navy during
WW1, before returning to play for Jarrow Town FC. As an outside-left, Hull City AFC signed Crawford on
4 March 1920 in the shipyard. He moved across to outside-right through the
next season. Chelsea FC signed him for a £3000 transfer fee in May
1923. Following 308 league appearances, he
scored 28 goals. Joined Queen's Park Rangers FC on 24 May 1934, retired in 1937. |
