Club Career |

Club(s) |
Started his career at Cammell Baird FC, a shipyard club in the Birkenhead
League. At the time, he was also an amateur with Everton FC.
For the price of a new football strip for the first team, it was Brian
Clough's Nottingham Forest that brought Davenport's potential to the
Football League when he signed professional forms in January 1982,
playing 118 league matches, scoring 54 times. His success saw him
move to Manchester United FC on 12 March 1986 for £570,000, after
scoring 22 times in 92 league outings, Davenport moved to Middlesbrough
FC in November 1988 for £700,000, but a return of seven league goals
in 59 matches was not enough. He then signed for Sunderland AFC in July
1990, after another fifteen league goals in 99 league appearances,
Davenport left and turned out for lower league sides in both England and
Scotland. Airdrieonians FC were first in 1993 (38 league apps, 8
goals), St Johnstone FC in 1994 (22 league apps, 4 goals),
Stockport County FC in 1995 (6 league apps, one goal), Southport FC
in 1995, where he was also caretaker manager (58 league apps, 18
goals), Macclesfield Town FC as plyer-manager in 1997 (5 league
apps, one goal). His solitary Macclesfield goal in May 1998 was his
final ever in the Football League, and his hundredth. He played two
appearances for Congleton Town FC in 2001, and also appeared eight times
for Bangor City FC between 2001 and 2004. |

Management Career |
|
Club(s) |
Took over the managers hotseat at Macclesfield Town in January 2000 after
a period within the coaching staff, but he was sacked in the December
after refusing to work alongside a new joint-manager. In June 2001,
Davenport was appointed manager at Bangor City FC in the Welsh
Premiership, he left in December 2005 following his side's lack of
progress and ambition. On 24 May 2006, Davenport became Colwyn Bay FC's
manager and resigned on 24 January 2007 to take up the post at Southport
FC. But was sacked in April 2008, despite reaching the play-offs. On 11
May 2010, Davenport was appointed assistant manager at Bradford Park
Avenue FC. |

Due to the fact that
many matches rarely stuck to exactly ninety minutes long, allowing time
for injuries, errors and substitutions. The minutes here
given can only ever be a guideline and cannot therefore be accurate, only
an approximation. |
