Started his career playing for his
works' team at Usworth Colliery, where he was a clerk. Joined Leeds United
AFC for a transfer fee of £50 in August 1928, making his league debut
against Middlesbrough FC on 30 November 1929. After 243 league
appearances and 62 goals, Norwich City FC then paid £2750 for
Furness' signature on 10 June 1937. He retired in June 1947,
following 93 league appearances, in which he scored 21 times,
to join the backroom staff. |
