returned after Oldham Athletic's victory over Manchester United a
fortnight ago. "My decision must not be taken as a sign that I am
contemplating finishing with professional football," he said. "I feel good
for football for a long time yet." "

Playing Career |
Club(s) |
Began his career with Grimshaw Park Co-operative Society FC,
whilst also assisting the Blackburn Rovers FC reserves. Blackpool FC
signed Hacking in December 1919, where he kept goal for 32 league
appearances. Joined non-league Fleetwood FC on 14 October 1925
before joining Oldham Athletic FC, alongside Billy Porter, in May 1926,
he made 223 league appearances. Joined Manchester United FC on 14
March 1934, making 32 league appearances, up until he was
injured in the new year. Joined
Accrington Stanley FC as a player-manager on 27 May 1935, and he retired from
playing in January the following year after seventeen league appearances
in goal. |

Joined Accrington Stanley FC as a player-manager on 27 May 1935,
retired from playing in January the following year. He resigned his
managership in early May 1949, effective at the end of the month, however,
he was appointed the Barrow AFC
secretary-manager on 17 May 1949, of the Football League Division Three North
club, a position he held at the time of his untimely death in May 1955.
However, Hacking had resigned his position with Barrow in January 1955,
effective at the season's ending. |
