Started his
football career with Salts FC, as well as signing amateur forms with
Huddersfield Town AFC. Joined Queen's Park Rangers FC as a professional on
16 August 1955.
Birmingham City FC signed Hellawell on 15 May 1957 for a fee and Bill
Finney. George Hardwick's Sunderland AFC paid
£27,599 for him on 23 January 1965, but after being placed on the
open-to-transfer list at the end of the following season, he returned to Huddersfield Town AFC
on 22 September 1966 for £15,000. Peterborough United FC picked his
signature for £4000 on 30 November 1968 before ending his career with
Bromsgrove Rovers from August 1969. |
