Began as a
Carlisle United FC trainee, before signing professionally on 18 January
1996. He had played 42 league matches, scoring ten goals, when
he was sold to Crystal Palace FC for £1 million on 12 February 1998, he
had previously turned down the chance to play for Manchester United FC. At
Palace, though, he scored another ten goals in 26 league matches.
Transferred to Blackburn Rovers FC for £4.1 million on 19 January 1999. And
his career was disrupted by a motorbike accident in Rome, he struggled to
regain a place and was loaned
to Coventry City FC on 12 February 2003, where he scored two goals in
nine league games. He was eventually freed from his contract at
Blackburn Rovers FC after 153 league games, where he scored 44 times, to be signed by Bolton Wanderers FC on 13 January
2006. He played in just six league games before being released
just six months later. He remained out-of-contract for numerous
years, throughout which he had trials with MLS outfit New York Bulls. He
trained with Bolton Wanderers FC and Carlisle United FC in an attempt to
regain and maintain his fitness levels. He had one reserve game
with Huddersfield Town AFC in February 2008. He signed for Conference side
Wrexham AFC in March 2008. He scored a single goal in three league
matches, before leaving at the end of the season. In Summer of 2009,
Jansen signed for NPL Division One North side Leigh Genesis FC,
scoring nine times in 30 league appearances. A year later, he
left with his manager to join Chorley FC. He scored three goals in 22
league appearances. |

minutes are an approximation, due to the fact that many matches rarely stick to exactly ninety minutes long, allowing time for injuries and errors. |
