Club Career

Club(s) Played junior football in Bury before signing as an apprentice with Bury FC, turning professional in March 1965. After 127 league appearances, when he scored thirteen times, he was signed by Liverpool in March 1969 for 67,000 pounds.  His time at Anfield was ending after 170 league appearances and twelve goals, as he was signed out on loan to Stoke City AFC in August 1977, the deal was made permanent a month later for a 20,000 pounds. After twenty league appearances, and three goals, in March 1978, Lindsay made the move to the NASL and Oakland Stompers and Toronto Blizzard.  In late 1982, he came out of his retirement to assist North-West Counties League side Newton FC.
