After playing schoolboy football in
Leeds, Madeley was playing for Frasley Celtic FC when he was signed by
Leeds United AFC in May 1962, where he remained for the next nineteen
years, completing 536 league matches, scoring 25 goals,
utilising every position, except goalkeeper. He retired in May 1981. |

After retiring, he set up a sports shop in Leeds which he subsequently
sold in 1987. In 1992, he had a benign brain tumour removed. Had a heart
attack in 2002. Diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2003. A hip
replacement in 2004. -
