Links, on Bloomfield Road in Blackpool. His father is still a solicitor.

The
bespectacled keeper had a spell
with Blackpool FC, making five league appearances in the
1914-15 season, whilst also making himself available for clubs like the
Northern Nomads FC of the Lancashire Combination. He also played for
Manchester University AFC while he attended, and eventually signed amateur
forms for
Preston North End FC on 26 October 1920. He played in 21 League
matches, and after conceding a penalty in the 1922 FA Cup Final, he
requested to leave on 6 May, and he
signed for Manchester City FC on 9 May, and went on to make 99 league
appearances. After a change of job, Mitchell moved to and joined Leicester City FC
on 6 October 1926, until his
retirement the following year. |
