Club Career

Club(s) Played for Ormskirk & District Schools, from which he joined Preston North End FC as an apprentice, turning professional in September 1972. Played 84 league matches, scoring fifteen times. Burnley FC signed Morley in February 1976 for a £100,000 transfer fee, another 91 league matches followed, and another five goals. He moved onto Aston Villa FC in June 1979 for £220,000, amonst his success, he featured in 137 league appearances, scoring 25 times. West Bromwich Albion FC signed him for £70,000 in December 1983, he completed 33 league appearances and scored another five goals before being sent out on loan. Birmingham City FC in 1984, where he sored three times in four league games. He joined Seiko SA of Hong Kong for the 1985-86 season, but left after the club dissolved. He joined ADO Den Haag for the following season, playing in 31 Eredivisie appearances, scoring thirteen. Morley returned to West Bromwich Albion FC in 1987, playing in another 28 league matches, scoring seven times. He made another five league appearances with Burnley FC in 1988 on loan. After leaving Hawthorns, Morley joined the Tampa Bay Rowdies in 1989 and Greece side Hamrun Spartans FC.
