A graduate of the Lilleshall Academy, Parker signed as a trainee for
Charlton Athletic FC, signing professionally on 22 October 1997. Loaned
to Norwich City FC end of October 2000 for a month,
scoring once in six league appearances. After
128 league appearances and nine goals, he signed for Chelsea FC on
30 January 2004 for £10 million, but
only played in fifteen Premier League matches, scoring once. Signed for Newcastle United FC on 15 June 2005, for £6.5
million and made 55 Premier League appearances,
scoring four times. Parker then joined West Ham United FC on 6 June 2007
and made 113 Premier League appearances, scoring ten goals. Joined Tottenham
Hotspur FC on 30 August 2011 for £5 million and
made another fifty Premier League appearances. Despite interest and a bid
from Queen's Park Rangers FC, Parker joined Fulham FC on 19 August 2013,
and has made 119 league appearances, scoring six goals, up until
his retirement in June 2017; |

Following his retirement, Parker took up a coaching position at Tottenham
Hotspur FC, managing the under-18 squad. However, in July 2018, he became a
first-team coach at Fulham FC. Parker was appointed caretaker manager on 28 February 2019
when Claudio Ranieri was sacked. Despite the club's relegation from the
Premier League, he was appointed as the team's permanent
manager on 10 May 2019, and brought the club back up at his first attempt.
Unfortunately, he also oversaw their relegation again and left the club on
28 June 2021. He took over the reigns at AFC Bournemouth on the same day.
Following a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool FC, Parker was sacked on
30 August 2022. Appointed as the new manager of Belgian side Club Brugge
on 31 December 2022. He was sacked on 8 March 2023 after just two
victories in twelve matches. Returned to management with Championship side
Burnley FC on 5 July 2024. Left by 'mutual consent' on 30 April 2026, nine
days after relegation. |
