Moved as a
child to the north-east of England, and played football for the pit he was
working for, Felling Colliery FC, from where he signed amateur forms with
Darlington FC in 1924. He was playing with Gateshead North-Eastern League
side, High Fell FC in 1925. Huddersfield Town AFC signed Turner on 15
April 1926. Following 364 league outings between the posts,
Turner was placed on the 'free transfer' list on 27 April 1937, signed for
Fulham FC on 25 June 1937, and he remained at Craven Cottage until after
the war. Turner was back at Huddersfield Town AFC in 1940 as a guest in
goal. |
