Following hsu retirement from the game, Unsworth joined Preston North End
FC as a Development Coach, becoming first-team coach on 30 December 2010,
becoming carateker-manager a December 2011, but was dismissed when a new
management took its place. After turning down an opportunity to manage
Sligo Rovers in 2012, Unsworth was appointment to the coaching staff of
Sheffield United FC on 6 December 2012, first as Head of the Academy,
before becoming assistant to the caretaker-manager in April 2013. He
turned down an approach from Kilmarnock FC before leaving United on 1
August 2013. Then, in September 2013, he returned to Everton FC, as
assistant manager to the under-21 team, stepping into the U21 managers job
within a year. Before leaving Everton on 12 April 2022, Unsworth spent two
periods as caretaker-manager at Goodison Park, following the sackings of
Roberto Martínez, and then Ronald Koeman. Took his first steps in
full-time management when he was appointed as the new manager of Oldham
Athletic FC, of the National League, on 20 September 2022. |
