Club Career |
Club(s) |
Waddle joined Newcastle United FC as a nineteen year old in July
1980 for £1000. Following the transfer to Tottenham Hotspur FC,
Waddle agreed terms on 14 May 1985, however United wanted £800,000,
Spurs offered £550,000 then £400,000 following the English club's ban from
European competition. Despite late interest from Chelsea FC, Waddle became
a Spurs player when his United contract expired on 30 June. A
League tribunal, on 9 July, set the transfer at £590,000. Moved to
France, Olympique de Marseille on 1 July 1989. Waddle returned to
England, and Sheffield Wednesday FC, before being released to joined Falkirk FC, of the Scottish
First Division. Bradford City FC in 1996 before a return to the north-east at the age of 36 to the club he
supported as a boy, Sunderland AFC. Burnley FC, Torquay United FC, Worksop
Town FC followed Guest appearances for Glapwell FC, Stocksbridge Park
Steels FC and Hallam FC. |

As
one half of the duo, Glenn and Chris, 'Diamond Lights' [Record
Shack KICK1) was released on 19 April 1987. It reached number
twelve in the official UK charts, and remained for eight weeks.
Written by Bob Puzey and produced by Puzey and Terry Hobart, who also
penned the follow-up single 'It's Goodbye'. That single was never released
as Glenn had joined AS Monaco and the single could not be promoted. |
