According to the 1881 census, 17 year-old Arthur H. is a pupil at St. Chad's College in Cheadle.

 

According to the 1891 census, Arthur H., a silk dyer, is back at home with his parents, now at 54 St. Edward Street, along with six other siblings and three servants. His father is a silk dyer and printer.

According to the 1901 census, Arthur Henry is married to Lucy and they have two servans living at 30 Hartington Street in Leek. He has followed his father in the silk manufacturing business.
