Club(s) Played his football at first with Sutton Town FC in 1909. Joined Derby County FC following the war and made 180 league appearances, scoring nine times. Transferred to Chesterfield FC as player-coach in 1929 for a season, completing 38 league outings and scoring twice. Spent the 1930-31 season with Notts County FC as player-coach without playing any league matches.
