Club Career

Club(s) Began his junior career playing with Witton Albion FC,  and then Nantwich FC, from where he joined Bolton Wanderers FC on 8 November 1928 for a £250 'consideration fee', but a breach of transfer rule 38 (a club cannot pay a transfer fee for an amateur) prevented that transfer, for whom Bolton were fined £50, and Nantwich £20, on 10 December. Bolton were also prevented from ever registering Worrall. He instead joined Oldham Athletic FC two days later. He made 105 league appearances, scoring 21 goals, before he joined Portsmouth FC on 29 October 1931 for a £3000 transfer fee. He made 313 league appearances and scored 68 goals. Worrall returned to Oldham when he guested for his former club in October 1939, and again in September 1940 and August 1942. Also represented the Fire Service between 1942 and 1945. He joined Crewe Alexandra FC in March 1946, making just seven league appearances, scoring once, before he joined Stockport County FC at sometime. He represented the RAF in March 1947 while registered as a County player.
transfer notes "TROUBLE CONCERNING NANTWICH PLAYER"
"Bolton Wanderers were in trouble with the Council of the F.A. on Monday. It affected a player named Worrall, who was registered for Nantwich F.C. on May 25th, 1928, as an amateur player under Rule 38, Form L. On November 8th a request for the cancellation of the registration was acceded to, and on the same day the association received a professional registration form and agreement under which Worrall was to play as a professional for the Nantwich club, and a certificate was issued. On November 9th a transfer form, transferring Worrall from Nantwich to Bolton Wanderers was received, together with a registration form and agreement, the dree documents having been signed on November 8th. Rule 38 provides that a club shall not be entitled to receive any consideration for releasing a player from whom they have registered under Form L. The Nantwich club received from Bolton Wanderes £250 as a consideration for the release of the player. Bolton Wanderers, in breach of Rule 30, played Worrall notwithstanding that he had not been registered for them. The reccommendations adopted by the Council were:-
(1) That the professional registration forms and agreements be cancelled.
(2) That the Nantwich club be ordered to repay the £250 they received from the Bolton Wanderers club.
(3) That the Nantwich club be fined £20 and the Bolton Wanderers club £50.
(4) That the Bolton Wanderers club be not entitled to register the player at any future time. -
