Background
51 UEFA national teams entered qualification, and 13 teams will qualify for the 2006 World Cup. The draw for the qualification groups was held at the World Cup Preliminary Draw at Festhalle, Frankfurt, Germany, on 5 December 2003.

A 197 teams entered, and 196 took part.

Group 6 fixtures agreed on Tuesday, 13 January 2004, in Cardiff, Wales.

For countries on the same number number of points, those with a greater number of points obtained in the matches between the tied teams will be placed higher.
