Diary
Monday,
24 August 2020 -
National Coach
Kasper Hjulmand has chosen the 23 players for his first national team
squad in ten months.
It features well-known faces such as captain Simon Kjær, Christian Eriksen, Thomas Delaney and Kasper Schmeichel, as well as players such as
Andreas Skov Olsen, Joakim Mæhle, Christian Nørgaard and Rasmus Falk.
Both matches are played at home in Telia Parken -
unfortunately probably behind closed doors due to the Coronavirus
pandemic.
Kasper Hjulmand will make his debut as
the national coach in the match against Belgium, which will be
played on 5 September.
Three days later, against
England, on 8 September.
Thursday, 25 August 2020 -
When Kasper Hjulmand
selected his first squad, he predicted that there could be changes during
the week due to both UEFA's corona rules and the fact that most players
are still in
pre-season and without matchday
training.
Today comes the first
change in the squad. Andreas Skov Olsen has started training
with his Italian club
Bologna. It is an unusual
circumstance that UEFA only allows three substitutions - against five in
last week's UEFA matches - which is why Hjulmand has chosen to replace him
with Jacob Bruun Larsen from Hoffenheim, who has been
training
for several weeks.
The two players swap
places, Bruun
Larsen joins the A squad and Skov Olsen joins the U21's,
where there is better place
to build a progressive course, where they can use five substitutes.
Saturday evening, 5 September 2020
- Belgium attacked from the off and sent out an early warning sign when
Yannick Carrasco's free-kick hit the woodwork. Just seconds later the
visitors were in front when Denayer pounced for his first international
goal from Mertens' corner. Mertens doubled the lead with a quarter of an
hour remaining, side-footing in from close range after the forward was
quickest to react to Kasper Schmeichel's save from Youri Tielemans.
Denmark rarely threatened, with Christian Eriksen forcing Simon Mignolet
into his only save of the match midway through the first half.
