Diary
Thursday, 30 May 2021 -
National coach Kasper Hjulmand has selected 26 players who will enter the
European Championship camp on Monday in Elsinore.
It is a strong squad with a good mix of younger players and
experience.
Kasper Hjulmand has selected
three goalkeepers, five defenders, four full-backs, six
midfielders, two left wingers, two right wingers and four strikers. Hjulmand
can make changes in the squad up until 7 June.
The team will then play friendly matches against Sweden in Parken
on June 5 and against Norway at Brøndby Stadium on June 8. Both games are
close to being sold out.
Monday, 3 June 2024 - Due to injury
concerns within the squad, Kasper Hjulmand has called up Mathias Jørgensen
on standby.
Wednesday, 5 June 2024 - Denmark 2 Sweden 1
- Malte Ebert and Benjamin Hav set the stage for a party in Parken,
where the former played the new European Championship song for the many
thousands of fans in attendance. Benjamin Hav was also in charge of
reading the starting line-ups. Today's captain, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, had
to take exactly one minute to kick off the party. Christian Eriksen sent a
corner kick towards the front post, where the Tottenham midfielder got on
the ball first and placed Robin Olsen in the Swedish goal. Eight minutes
later, the Swedes equalised after nine minutes. Alexander Isak was played
free and he kicked the ball over Frederik Rønnow in the Danish goal. A
minute later, a great chance fell at the feet of Alexander Bah, but the
ball just snuck past the post. Five minutes into the second half, Rasmus
Højlund single-handedly won a great chance, which he kicked just outside
the post. With five minutes remaining, Christian Eriksen scored the
winning goal. 35,522 spectators were in attendance.
Friday, 7 June
2024 - Kasper Hjulmand has named his squad of 26
to represent Denmark in the European Championships. Mathias Jørgensen
has replaced Galatasaray's Victor Nelsson.
Saturday, 8 June 2024
- Denmark 3 Norway 1 - In the rain, It was the Danish that pressed. After 12 minutes, the pressure
led to the opening goal. After a couple of blocks in the Norwegian defense, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was able to
secure the first goal. After 16 minutes, Norway were close to scoring when Leo Østigård sent a header narrowly past the post.
Instead, Jannik Vestergaard jumped highest after 21 minutes at a corner kick,
extendeding Denmark's lead.
After that, Norway came up with a couple of big chances. The first was kicked over by Erling Haaland after 28 minutes and barely 10 minutes later Kasper Schmeichel had to pull out a great save to prevent a header.
Delaney had the first attempt in the second half, but it was after 65 minutes
when Erling Haaland, and the rest of the stadium, thought he had reduced the lead, but the
goal was disallowed for offside after a VAR check.
However, Erling Haaland managed to get his goal when he sent
the ball in behind Kasper Schmeichel from an acute angle after 72
minutes.
The match clock had just passed the 90 minutes when Yussuf Poulsen put his foot on a sharp cross from Victor Kristiansen
to secure a 3-1 victory.
23,390 spectators showed up at Brøndby Stadium.
Friday, 14 June 2024 - At their basecamp in
Freudenstadt, the Denmark training session taking place is a light one.
Hjulmand is focusing on the tactical aspects as he prepares his team with the final details before they travel to Stuttgart
in the evening.
Sunday, 16 June 2024 -
Slovenia 1 Denmark 1 - Christian Eriksen marked his return to the European Championship with a special goal - but Slovenia responded to grab a draw with Denmark in Stuttgart.
Eriksen's return to the Euros began perfectly as he netted his side's opening goal of this tournament 17 minutes in, firing into the bottom left corner after a smart flick-on from Jonas Wind.
He was a standout performer as Denmark controlled possession in the first half and created more chances to extend their lead.
