		Although Bryan Robson had
returned as captain against Scotland at Wembley, he did not go on the
tour as Manchester United had flown to Swaziland for an end-of-season
tournament, so Shilton, once again, took the armband.
		When Shilton was substituted
at half-time in Melbourne, Terry Butcher took the captain's armband. |

 Unlike the
1981 yellow
uniform, this short-lived shirt, which was only worn on England's Australian
tour, had no accompanying shorts and socks, so the goalkeeper wore the same
shorts and socks as the outfield players.
		  The shirt pictured
above is the one issued to Joe Corrigan for the 1982 World Cup in Spain and
is part of the Neville Evans National Football Shirt
Collection (photo kindly supplied by Simon Shakeshaft). There is
no Admiral logo, because the Football Association were under the false
impression that manufacturers were not allowed to advertise on the kits. |
