Notes
For
the first time in its relatively short history, the Championship is
mentioned in, so far, just one newspaper report. Lloyd's Weekly
Newspaper, on Sunday, 4 April 1897. Although all newspaper reports
still talk about the annual matches as being a bragging contest.
Only after the final match between, was an 'International Championship'
mentioned and a final table was produced.
