Notes
For the first time, a mid-season table was
produced for the 'International Championship'. It appeared in the
Evening Telegraph, on Tuesday, 21 March 1899, following the
England-Wales match.
Once more, but only for the second time in its
history, the reports following the final match recognised an
International Championship. Stating the "The Representatives of England
and Scotland met at Birmingham on Saturday to decide the International
Championship, both having previously defeated Wales and Ireland."
