Diary

Monday, 30 May 2016 - Liverpool defender Martin Škrtel and Napoli midfielder Marek Hamík are both in Slovakia's squad for their first European Championship appearance. Coach Ján Kozák announced his group 24 hours after Slovakia beat Germany 3-1. Their first game is against Wales on 11 June while they face Russia on 15 June and England on 20 June. Top scorer Robert Vittek did not make the squad, as the 23-goal Slovan Bratislava striker failed to recover from injury.

Saturday, 11 June 2016 - Wales snatched a late winner against Slovakia in their Euro 2016 opener to make a dramatic return to major tournaments after a 58-year absence. Gareth Bale's dipping free-kick gave Wales a half-time lead and sent their fans into raptures. Slovakia's Ondrej Duda punished passive Welsh defending to equalise.

Wednesday, 15 June 2016 - Slovakia defeat Russia to earn their first points and win in the European Championship Finals. Two first half goals from Weiss and Hamík were enough for the Slovakians to win, despite a Glushakov 80th minute consolation.
