Tuesday, 23 August 2016 - Coach Ján Kozák announces his squad and has rung the changes to the group that met during Euro 2016, losing the likes of Jan Mucha, Miroslav Stoch, Vladimir Weiss and Stanislav Sestak – four players with 223 caps between them. Among those included are captain and former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel, Napoli playmaker Marek Hamsik and AC Milan midfielder Juraj Kucka, while there are call-ups for the uncapped Jakub Holubek and Jakub Povazanec.

Monday, 29 August 2016 - Robert Pich, a reserve, has been called into the full squad as a replacement for Ondrej Duda, who withdraws because of injury.
