Diary

Friday, 30 September 2016 - Pietro Ghedin, the Maltese national coach, has called together a provisional squad of 24 players for the next two World Cup qualification matches against England and Lithuania. The squad includes Floriana's Jurgen Pisani and Balzan's Lydon Micallef. Valletta's Roderick Briffa Neqsien is left out because of injury, whilst Barnet's Luke Gambin FC is serving a two match suspension. Jonathan Caruana is also suspended, but is in the squad as he is eligible to play against Lithuania.

Saturday, 1 October 2016 - Pietro Ghedin conducted his first training session this morning with those of his named squad that are available in the MFA Training Grounds in Ta 'Qali. Many will still be playing with their respective clubs today, and will join up with the squad tomorrow. They leave for London on Thursday morning.

Wednesday, 5 October 2016 - Ahead of flying out to Heathrow airport tomorrow morning, Ghedin has finalised his squad of 21 players who will participate in the next two matches.

Thursday, 6 October 2016 - The Maltese squad arrive in England and have their first training session at Bisham Abbey. All 21 players partook and came through the hour-long session unscathed.
