The Top Thirty UK Music Chart by New Musical Express 
   

On Friday, 15 November 1952, The New Musical Express published the first ever singles chart in the UK, comprising the twelve highest selling singles of the week, it increased to twenty on Friday, 1 October 1954, and thirty on Friday, 13 April 1956. For just the fourth time since the chart was first published, England played twice in one publication. So when England lost in Mexico, and beat United States, Elvis Presley's Double-A side A Fool Such As I & I Need Your Love Tonight was the best selling single for its second of five weeks. When the chart of Friday, 22 May 1959 was published, there were 24 surviving songs from the last chart when England played a week ago:-
