Having started out as a Liverpool schoolboy, alongside Steven Gerrard and
Michael Owen, Ball became a part of the academy at FA National School at
Lilleshall. From there, he became a trainee with Everton FC, then signed
professionally on 17 October 1996. After 121 Premier League
appearances and eight goals, Ball signed for Rangers FC in August
2001 for £6.5 million. After 4 years, making 55 SPL
appearances, scoring once, he left Rangers for PSV
Eindhoven on 31 August 2005 for £500,000, but only played in
eleven league matches, after struggling with injuries. In a bid to resurrect his Premier League
career, Ball joined Manchester City FC on 31 January 2007 for an
undisclosed fee. He was released from his Eastlands' contract
after 48 Premier League appearances, on 1
July 2009, and had trained with various clubs afterwards, Wigan Athletic
FC and
Blackpool FC inclusive, he eventually joined Leicester City FC and Sven-Göran Eriksson on 9 August 2011
and was released in 2012 after only three Championship appearances. |

minutes are an approximation, due to the fact that many matches rarely stick to exactly ninety minutes long, allowing time for injuries and errors. |
