Beasant began his career with Edgware Town FC, from
where, Wimbledon FC paid £1000 for him on 7 August 1979. He
made 340 league matches for the Dons. On 13 June 1988, Beasant
joined Newcastle United FC for £800,000, a record transfer fee for a
goalkeeper. He made twenty league appearances before he
returned to the capital when he joined Chelsea FC on 14 January 1989 for £725,000.
He appeared in 133 league matches, but also
spent six league games on loan with Grimsby Town
FC from 24 October 1992, and also Wolverhampton Wanderers FC on 12 January
1993, where he made a further four league appearances. He
returned to Stamford Bridge, to be sold to Southampton FC for £300,000
and made 88 Premier League appearances. On 22 August 1997,
Beasant then joined Nottingham Forest FC on a free transfer, initially as
cover, but soon made the number one shirt his own. He made 139
league appearances. He was signed by Portsmouth FC in August 2001,
and made one Premier League appearance on loan at Tottenham
Hotspur FC in November 2001. After 27 Pompey league appearances,
Beasant was released and he spent 2002 registered with Bradford City FC
and Wigan Athletic FC in October 2002. He was then signed by Brighton &
Hove Albion FC on 30 January 2003. He made sixteen league
appearances. Beasant spent the 2003-04 registered with Fulham FC,
where he was also the goalkeeping coach. |

A UEFA A-Licensed goalkeeping coach,
Dave's coaching career included a five-year spell as first-team and
goalkeeping coach at Fulham and as part of Northern Ireland's management
team under Lawrie Sanchez. Dave was also appointed senior goalkeeping
coach at Glenn Hoddle's Academy. In August 2012, he was appointed
goalkeeping coach at Bristol Rovers FC.
