  Second Lieutenant Alfred George Bower
Birth 10 November 1895 at 7 Addison Road, Bromley, Kent [registered in Bromley, December 1895].
 

According to the 1901 census, Alfred G. is the second youngest (his younger sister is a month old!) of five children to George Clifford and Emily Maud (née Earnshaw), living at Newquay in Durham Avenue in Beckenham, Kent. Along with two nurses and two servants. His father is a stockbroker.

 

According to the 1911 census, Alfred George heads the census list as a patient in The Sanatorium, in Paperharow Road in Godalming. Part of the Charterhouse School.
According to the British Army Honourable Artillery Company register, in 1914, he was living at Newquay, Bromley in 1914, and was a stock brokers' clerk.

  According to the 1921 census, Alfred George is a stockbroker (for Finlinson Bros) and is the youngest of two sons still living with their parents at 2 Durham Avenue in Bromley. They have one servant.
Marriage to Marjorie Irma Single, on 11 January 1927, at St. Matthew's Church, Bayswater [registered in Paddington, March 1927]. He was a stock broker. living at 3 Moscow Court in Bayswater at the time.
Their engagement was announced on Christmas Day, 1925. They had two children, Pamela I. (b.1931) and Brenda M. (b.1937)
  According to the 1939 register, Alfred George, a stock jobber, is married to Marjorie and living at Foxwood in Orpington.
Death 30 June 1970 in Gorey, St. Martin, Jersey, aged 74 years 262 days [no registration found in England/Wales].
Funeral Jersey Crematorium, St. Helier. Ashes scattered beside a rose bush.

Playing Career

Club(s) 'Baishe' attended Chartehouse School but failed to earn his colours. He did, however, play with Old Carthusians FC after WW1, in which he served in the HAC and the City of London Regiment. He made 180 appearances for the famous Corinthians club from 1920 until 6 December 1930. As well as appearing for Casuals FC. Also made nine league appearances for Chelsea FC (three in March 1924, six between August and October 1925, and one last non-competitive appearance in August 1927).

Individual honours FA Charity Shield runners-up with Amateurs 1923, 1924;
Distinctions Entered the Amatuer Golf Championship from 1919 to 1926. Also a keen cricketer and a mamener of the Nondescript CC
