Thomas Clay |
Birth |
19 November 1892 at
56 Graham Street, Leicester, Leicestershire [registered in
Leicester, December 1892]. |
|
According to the 1901 census,
Thomas is the youngest of four children to Thomas and Mary J., living at
144 Jarrom Street in Leicester. His father is a bricklayer. Jarrom
Street was a stones-throw away from Filbert Street, home ground of
Leicester Fosse. |
|
According to the 1911 census,
Tom is still living at 144 Jarrom Street with his three sisters and
parents. His eldest sister, Florence, is described as feeble-minded. Tom is now a builder's improver.
The census return reveals that Thomas is one of six children in total, and
that another seven had died in their infancy. |
Marriage |
to Florrie Fisher
[registered in Nottingham, September 1914]. |
|
According to the
1921 census, Thomas, a brick layer (for Tottenham & Edmonton Light & Gas
Compan), is now married to Florrie, and they have one daughter, Marjorie.
They live at 120 Paxton Road in Tottenham with his mother-in-law, Sarah
Fisher. |
|
According to the 1939 register, Thomas, a general labourer, is living at
The Oak, in St. Alban's Road in Saint Albans. He is stated as still being
married, but there is no Florrie here. |
