his career with local side Portsmouth Rovers FC, based in Todmorden. Then
Holme FC and Cliviger FC, both in Burnley, before being noticed by Burnley
FC. He signed amateur forms in February 1907, signing professional forms
in April. He holds the record number of league appearances for the club,
522 in total. On 7 March 1922, the
Football League gave Burnley FC permission to gift Dawson with a gold
watch for making 500 appearances for the club. Dawson retired in
1929. |
