His junior
career was with the Liverpool FC Academy, and scoring goals with Liverpool
Schoolboys. He worked his way through the youth and reserves sides,
signing a professional contract on 1 July 2010, making
his Liverpool FC first team debut in 2011. Injury meant he didn't play a
single match during 2014-15. He signed on a season-long loan with fellow Premier
League club, Burnley FC on 5 August 2016. Flanagan was loaned to Bolton
Wanderers FC on 31 January 2018 for the remainder of the season, that
ultimately saw his team relegated. Flanagan joined Steven Gerrard's Rangers FC on 21 June 2018,
making 21 SPL appearances. He left the club on 19 May
2020. It was not until 4 November 2020 when Flanagan had found himself a
new club, 1A Pro League club, Royal Charleroi SC, but left at the end of
the season without making any appearances. On 15 July 2021, he joined
NordicBet Liga side HB Køge, making two league
appearances, in his first season. |

"Jon Flanagan has pleaded guilty to assaulting
his girlfriend. The 25-year-old defender appeared at Liverpool
Magistrates' Court [today] accused of kicking Rachael Wall. He was charged
following an incident at 03:20 GMT in Duke Street, in Liverpool city
centre, on 22 December [2017]. He will be sentenced later this month. The
court heard he had been seen on CCTV assaulting his partner, who he has
been in a relationship with for 18 months. Lionel Greig, mitigating, said
the victim had not provided a statement and there had been no previous
instances of domestic violence in their relationship. Both parties were
under the influence of alcohol at the time, he added." -

Jon Flanagan has been sentenced to 40 hours of unpaid work and a
community order for assaulting his girlfriend. The 12-month community
order will include 15 rehabilitation activity days, 40 hours of unpaid
work, £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge. Sentencing, District
Judge Wendy Lloyd said "You are, of course, a young man of previous good
character and therefore it's undoubtedly sad that you have brought
yourself here by your behaviour," she said." -
