Signed with the Middlesbrough FC Academy at the age of
twelve from Marton FC. He signed a professional contract on 1 July 2010.
After making his first team debut for 'boro, he was loaned out to Plymouth
Argyle FC on 2 August 2011. He was sent
out to York City FC on 9 February 2012, making
eight Conference appearances. After helping York regain
their League status, he was signed by Tranmere Rovers FC on loan on 14
August 2012 and returned to the
Riverside Stadium to earn his first-team status from following season.
After interest from Leicester City FC, Gibson signed for Burnley FC on 5
August 2018 for a £15 million transfer fee. Despite this, on Transfer Deadline Day, 31 January
2020, Watford FC made attempts to sign Gibson, with two bids rejected. On
3 September 2020, Gibson joined Norwich City FC on loan, the deal was made
permanent on 3 July 2021 for an £8 million transfer fee. Began the
2022-23 season as club captain. Joined Stoke City FC on 7 June 2024 and
appointed as the club captain. |
