"Sam
Greenhalgh, former Bolton Wanderers and Aston Villa half-back, died to-day
at his Bolton home at the age of 74. A native of Eagley, near Bolton,
Greenhalgh played five times for the Football League and was twice reserve
for England."

career with Birtenshaw Wesleyans FC, Eagley United FC and Turton FC.
Joined Bolton Wanderers FC in 1902 and made 96
league appearances, scoring six goals. Joined Aston Villa FC in
January 1906 and made 46 league appearances,
scoring twice. Returned to Bolton Wanderers FC in 1907, becoming
club captain, and
made a final 163 league appearances, scoring
thirteen goals. He signed on 22 July 1914 to become a player~coach
at Chorley FC. |
