seventeen year-old James, a pen-blade grinder, is the oldest of two living
with his widowed mother at 30 Nicholson Road in Heeley. |

Began his
football career with Ranmoor Wesleyans FC in 1900, he was noted by his
local professional club Wednesday FC in 1903, joined Denaby United FC in
1906, rivals Rotherham Town FC in 1907-08. Liverpool FC paid £250
for Harrop in January 1908. He joined Aston Villa in June
1912. He returned to Wednesday FC as a wartime guest, and then joined
Sheffield United FC on 11 March 1921. Burton All Saints FC in 1922 and Buxton
FC in 1923. |
