Management Career |
Club(s) |
After retiring, Sammy Lee rejoined Liverpool FC as part of the
well-known boot room. He coached the reserve team, working his way up to
coaching the first team. His progress was duly noted by Sven-Göran
Eriksson, he appointed Lee as a coach on 18 May 2001 as a replacement for
Steve McClaren, he left Liverpool on 8 July 2004 to concentrate on his
England role. Under the McClaren era, in August 2006, Lee was offered the
post of Under-21 manager, but this was declined so that he could
concentrate on his Bolton Wanderers FC assistant manager's job that he had
occupied for a year. Lee stepped up to the management position in
April 2007, but was sacked in October after winning only one match.
Sammy returned to coaching with Liverpool FC on 16 May 2008 as Rafael
Benitez' assistant. He took charge of the first team on 21
December 2008 while his manager was poorly. Lee left Anfield in June 2011.
On 14 February 2012, Lee once more, returned to Bolton Wanderers FC, as
Head Coach of the Academy. |
