Born 5 November 1909 in Leyland, Lancashire [registered in Chorley, Lancashire, December 1909].

Census Notes

According to the 1911 census, Frank is the youngest of two children to Robert Edward and Sarah Ellen. His father is a rainproof and waterproof cutter. They live at 14 Turpin Green Lane in Leyland.

Died 7 February 1970 in Preston, aged 60 years 94 days [registered in Preston, Lancashire, March 1970].
Height/Weight 5' 9½", 11st. 6lbs [1932].

Club Career

Club(s) Played his early football with Lostock Hall FC, and then with works team, Leyland Motors FC, where he worked as a driller. Joined Preston North End FC on amateur forms in October 1927, turning professional in February 1928, keeping goal on 24 league occasions. Joined Oldham Athletic FC in May 1929, making another 29 league appearances. Arsenal FC signed Moss on 20 November 1931 for £3000. He scored a league goal against Everton on 16 March 1935. He was playing an as outfield player, after he injured his shoulder playing in goal. Unfortunately, that same shoulder injury curtailed his career a year later after 143 league appearances.
