	  Everton FC academy. McCann signed professionally on 1 July 1995 and 
	  went on to play in eleven Premier League matches. He signed for Sunderland 
	  AFC on 27 November 1998 for £500,000, and played 116 Premier League 
	  matches, scoring eight goals. Joined Aston Villa FC for £2.25 million 
	  on 31 July 2003 where he would play another 110 Premier League matches, 
	  scoring three times.  Despite hs injury setbacks, a move to Bolton 
	  Wanderers FC followed in June 2007, he played in 75 league matches, 
	  scoring once, before injury finally overcame him and he retired in 
	  early 2011. |
