Playing Career


Club(s)
Began as a Leyton Orient FC trainee, before signing professionally on 5 July 1999. Shorey signed for Reading FC on 9 February 2001 for £25,000. Shorey helped his club into the elite following promotion from the Football League and remained in the Premier League following Reading FC's relegation, as he signed for Aston Villa FC on 7 August 2008. Shorey failed to settle, and on 1 September 2009, he almost joined Portsmouth FC on a season-long loan, but the deal fell through. Instead, on 24 November he joined Nottingham Forest on loan]. On his return to Villa Park, he was loaned out again to Fulham FC on 1 February 2010. Shorey joined West Bromwich Albion FC on 7 August 2010, and was released on 16 May 2012. On 10 July 2012, he re-signed for Reading FC, until he was again released on 24 May 2013. He then had a trial with Brighton & Hove Albion FC on 24 June, and played in a friendly for Millwall FC on 13 July. On 30 August, he signed for Bristol City FC on a short-term contract, he left in the December. On 9 January 2014, Shorey eventually signed for Portsmouth, up until he joined David Platt's FC Pune City in India in September 2015 and made fourteen Super League appearances. On his return, without a club, on 20 January 2016, Shorey signed with Colchester United FC, following the club's relegation. His contract was not renewed at the end of the season. Began training with Stevenage Borough FC in August 2016, and made three National League South appearances with Hungerford Town FC in the September.

Management Career

Club(s) Caretaker-manager of Stevenage Borough FC between the 13 and 15 March 2018. But did not take charge of any matches. He had been a member of the coaching stafff since October 2016. Alongside Glen Little, Shorey was appointed as a co-manager of Wingate & Finchley FC, of the Isthmian League Premier Division. The role lasted until the 29 October, as he left because of personal reasons. Shorey returned to Reading FC on 2 July 2019 as the Lead Scout of the Academy, but only lasted until the end of the year, as the club made the role redundant.
