Weller started
as a Tottenham Hotspur FC
amateur, signing in August 1963, turning professional in January 1964. He
made 21 league appearances, scoring once, before he joined Millwall FC in June 1967 for 18,000
pounds. After scoring forty goals in 121 league outings, he signed for Chelsea
FC for 100,000 pounds in May 1970. In his one season, he made 38
league appearances, scoring fourteen goals. Weller then signed for Leicester City
FC in September 1971
for 100,000 pounds, returning the fee with 37 goals in 262 league
appearances. Moved to the NASL in United States for New England Teamen in February
1979, following a 40,000 pound transfer fee, making 72 NASL
appearances and scoring eighteen goals. On 15 July 1980, he moved on to
Fort Lauderdale Strikers in a swap deal involving Arnie Mausser,
scoring six in 64 NASL appearances. He also scored seven in eight
indoor appearances. He also scored six goals in six NASL
appearances whilst on loan to Tulsa Roughnecks from 4 February until
April 1983, before hanging up his boots. |

from 2 April 1984, firstly Fort Lauderdale Sun, then renamed South Florida
Sun until the League collapsed in 1985. On 24 April 1986, he was in charge
at Houston Dynamo. From autumn 1986 until 1988, he was assistant manager
at MISL side Dallas Sidekicks, and held a similar position at San Diego
Sockers in October 1988. Managed Tacoma Stars from 5 December 1989 until
the demise of the MSL in 1992, and then Sacremento Knights, of the CISL,
from 19 January 1994 until 1997. |
